Storm Debris Clean Up Continues

Storm Debris Clean-Up Information

The Public Works crews have been out all week beginning the task of cleaning up  the storm debris. This project is going to take much longer than originally expected.

Between the volume of debris along all the roads, and the weather this week the operations have been very grueling.  We ask for everyone’s patience and understand that we will be in your neighborhood eventually.

We are still in the Monday garbage route area, however, if you live in Governor’s Landing, Colonial Drive, Deerfield, Lamphere, Presidential Heights or in the Millstone area – we have completed those areas, and won’t be back for storm debris.

At this point, if you have any yard waste – we ask that you follow the general rules for such waste, which is to call the office at 860-444-5864 and be put on the list with either bags or bundles that are no longer than 4’ in length and a limit of 10 bundles.

This methodical clean up will follow the garbage route lists – so that we can be sure we go on each and every street to clean up the mess that was left behind by tropical storm Irene.

We remind you that the debris should be no longer than 6 feet in length and stacked along the curb line of your property.  We will be there with the claw truck for the large pieces, and ask that you bag any leaves as we have no way of vacuuming them up when we arrive to your property.  Piles of leaves will be left behind.

The town has waived the charge at the transfer station for brush for residents up through this Saturday September 10, 2011.  Please feel free to transport them to the Transfer Station at 1000 Hartford Road 7:30 - 3:30.

If you have any questions - please feel free to call the office at 860-444-5864.
