Connecticut Youth Services Association selects WHS graduate to receive award

Brianna Grills, a 2012 graduate of Waterford High School and freshman nursing student at Sacred Heart University, is the recipient of the Connecticut Youth Services Association Youth Leadership Award which honors one student, each year, who has made extraordinary contributions to the community. Miss Grills accumulated approximately 1,600 community services hours while in high school and served as a student representative on the Waterford Youth Services Advisory Committee.

She spent almost 10 years organizing Great Skate to Ice Out Cancer to raise money for the American Cancer Society and was a volunteer youth lacrosse coach for several years. She will be presented with her award on Friday, October 5th at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.  Brianna is the daughter of Keith and Lynn Grills and grandaughter of Jerry and Jan Theiler.
