Sports Report: Softball, Boys’ Tennis Teams Stay Hot
Several Waterford Teams On Winning Streaks
This week in Waterford High School sports was highlighted by several winning streaks, including six-game winning streaks for the softball team and boys' tennis team, a four-game winning streak by the boys’ lacrosse team and a two-game winning streak by the girls’ lacrosse team.
First, the Waterford High School softball team continued its strong season, defeating NFA 11-0 and Fitch 4-1 this week. The team is now 12-1, and has outscored opponents by a score of 130-16.
The baseball team meanwhile had its seven-game winning streak snapped by Fitch this week. The team came back to defeat Valley Regional 13-0 and Windham 11-0, but lost to East Lyme 1-0. The team is now 11-3.

Neither the boys’ nor the girls’ lacrosse team lost this week. The boys defeated Valley 12-3 and Wheeler 15-0 to run their record to 8-4. And the girls team defeated Woodstock 11-10 and Wheeler 14-10 to bring their record to 6-4.
The boys’ tennis team continued its strong season, racking up three wins over New London, Stonington and Griswold this week to bring their record to 10-1. And this week the girls’ tennis team won two matches before losing to Stonington for the second time this season, dropping their record to 8-3.
