Waterford's Finest To Be Honored

Waterford Police Department will honor officers in a special ceremony on October 24.

On October 24, Waterford Police Department will hold an Awards Ceremony at the New London Coast Guard Academy. Waterford Police Officer Surdo has been working with Chief Murray Pendleton, the Waterford Police Union and the Waterford Police Department's Police Benevolent Association to organize the event and determine which officers will be recognized.

While the final list of honorees is still being determined, the department is able to announce the names of three officers who are being recognized for having made the most arrests from October 1, 2012 through October 1, 2013. This year, those officers are:

Officer Eric Fredricks for Motor Vehicle activity arrests; Officer John Bunce for Criminal Arrests; and Officer Richard Avdevich for DUI arrests.

The police department plans to hold a raffle during the ceremony. That's where you come in. If you have anything you'd be interested in donating as a raffle prize that could be awarded to officers and their families, please contact Officer Surdo at 860-442-9451 or you can drop them off at the Waterford Police Department.
