Transformer Explosion Knocks Out Power in Waterford

Police are on the scene.

Waterford Police say the road is closed and there is a power outage affecting about 1,700 residents in the area of Route 1 and Fog Plain Road. 
Police say the possible transformer explosion knocked wires down. About 500 people remain without power as of 6:15 p.m. according to Connecticut Light & Power.
