Massive Landfill Fire Extinguished By Waterford Firefighters

The fire, which engulfed a 50-foot high pile of brush, took 10 hours to put out.

A massive brush fire at the former Miner Lane landfill in Waterford was finally extinguished by Waterford firefighters at around 1:30 this morning.

The Day reports that around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, fire crews responded to a massive brush fire at the former landfill on Miner Line. The fire engulfed a pile of brush that was 50 feet high and 300 feet long, according to the newspaper.

It took firefighters until 1:30 this morning to put the fire out, and then they had to wait until 8 this morning to leave the scene to ensure it would not reignite, according to The Day. The brush was being stored at the landfill to be turned into mulch and three pay loaders were used to help fight the fire, according to the newspaper.
