Expect Delays On Rt. 85 This Week, Month

Traffic will be impacted at the intersection of Industrial Drive because of construction of Charter Oak's new headquarters.

Between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. until Friday, the Waterford Police Department and the Connecticut Department of Transportation will periodically be closing down Rt. 85 at the intersection of Industrial Drive to allow for blasting.

Charter Oak Federal Credit Union is now building its at the intersection of Industrial Drive and Rt. 85. Part of the construction includes blasting by site contractor Kobyluck Brothers LLC, which requires traffic to be shut down in both directions on Rt. 85 for 10 minutes.

The 10-minute closing of Rt. 85 will happen two or three times a day until Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Delays All Month

Starting today and running until October 26, expects delays on Rt. 85 at the intersection of Industrial Driver to allow for the installation of a new sewer line.

Again, Charter Oak Federal Credit Union is building its headquarters in that area, and needs to install a new sewer line to the property. Unlike the blasting, the road will not be shut down completely but “traffic patterns will be altered,” according to a Waterford Police Department press release.

Waterford Police encourage drivers to seek alternative routes if possible.
