Dirt Bike Thieves Still At Large In Waterford

Waterford Police will have additional patrols in the areas around Fog Plain Road that the thieves seem to be targeting. They ask residents not to give chase but to call police if they see anything suspicious.

The group of thieves on the hunt for dirt bikes and ATVs may have tried to strike again last night. Waterford Police responded to a call reporting that four males had been seen in the backyard of a residence in the Boston Post Road/Ellen Ward Road area at about 2:30 a.m. Police say a resident of the house chased the suspects across Boston Post Road and into the yards of homes along Fog Plain Road.

"Although we do encourage residents to be alert and watch for any suspicious activity, we strongly encourage you to call the police and not approach the subjects. You are not only putting yourself in danger, but may be giving the subjects a few minute head start if attempting to elude police," Waterford Police said today on the department's Facebook page. "Please call police immediately if you see suspicious activity and let police officers approach the subjects. You can be very helpful by staying on the phone and advising the dispatcher of what you see, descriptions and direction of travel."

Waterford Police Department will have additional patrols in the late evening and overnight in the areas that thieves have been targeting.
