Should New London's Animal Control Stop Euthanizing Animals?

  4. The ad-hoc animal shelter committee meets tonight at 5:30 p.m., a group a new Waterford-East Lyme animal shelter. New London has expressed interest in joining Waterford and East Lyme, although so far neither the city’s mayor nor chief of police have not accepted an invitation any of the meetings. Also, New London’s philosophy of euthanizing animals, something Waterford and East Lyme don’t do, would have to change, First Selectman Dan Steward said.
  5. On this date in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell is granted a patent the telephone, just beating Antonio Meucci by four hours. And Joe Carter, one of two men in history to hit a World Series-winning walkoff home run, turns 50 today.
