2. Over the past month, the Waterford Board of Finance reviewed every department’s budget proposal for the 2013-14 fiscal year. The combined proposal came in at $81.96 million, a 4.16 percent increase over this year's total, and throughout their hearings, the Board of Finance cut $167,873, or 0.2 percent, from the proposal.

The largest cut by the board by far was a $115,000 cut for improvements at Jordan and Quaker Hill Fire Company after the board said they didn’t have enough back-up to justify the expense. The Board of Finance will hold its final budget meeting on Wednesday night to finalize its budget, and those fire companies will be given the opportunity to justify those expenses. Therefore, the funding could be reinstated.
