For Mr. Hot Dog, Work Is a Real Day at the Beach

Dana McFee, A Man Of Many Hats

Dana McFee bought a vending stand on Craigslist, secured a bid at Waterford Beach Park and now, nearly every day of the week, he is Mr. Hot Dog.

McFee tows his food stand, called Mr. Hot Dog, every day from Montville to Waterford Beach Park. He just started last week, after winning a bid for the spot this year.

“I won the bid, but I was the only bid,” McFee said.

Now, he grills hot dogs, hamburgers, and, after the urging of Montville Patch Editor Carrie Jacobson, sausages. He also sells drinks and ice cream. The real estate agent, who serves on the Montville Town Council and is the former owner of Mugsy’s Bar in Oakdale, couldn’t be happier.

“I enjoy it,” he said. “It’s a nice summer retreat.”
