Produce - Fresh From The Farm!

Becky's Farm & Garden is bursting at the seams!  Our summer gardens are full of delicious produce ready to make an appearance at your table.

We know how to grow and pick fresh produce.  Tomatoes, Squash, Corn...We have it ALL!
Do you know what to look for, how to prepare or store fresh produce once you get it home?

Well, in our Guide To Summer Produce Series, we are going to help you with all of it!  First up, Corn!

Corn:
Buying: Look for green husks & plump kernels.
Storage: Uncovered in the refrigerator with husk intact.  Eat within four days.
Cooking Tips:  Best grilled or boiled.
Remove husks and silk, (white hairy threads just under husk), right before cooking for maximum freshness.  To help remove the silk, wet a paper towel and wipe down the corn.

Grilling adds a certain something to the sweetness of corn on the cob.  There are several ways to grill corn.  Like, removing the husks, wrapping in aluminum foil and grilling over medium heat.
You can grill corn in the husk – as long as you open it up first and pull out the corn silk – but you end up with something more like corn steamed inside the husk, which is also delicious.
You can also shuck corn, brush it with melted butter, and set it on a medium hot grill until charred and tender.

If you prefer to boil your corn on the cob, simply bring unsalted water to a boil then place husked corn in water and bring to a boil again.  Once the water comes back to a boil, immediately remove corn from water and serve.

Incorporate your favorite flavor combinations and create a tasty meal fresh from the farm.  Stop by and grab some freshly picked native corn from Becky's Farm & Garden today!
