Jazzy Surprises At The Side Door in Old Lyme

The Old Lyme Inn's jazz club presents cool piano jazz from Scandinavian/British trio Phronesis on Friday and hot latin jazz from Argentinian musician Dario Boente on Saturday.

If you haven't yet checked out The Side Door, the intimate and chic jazz club at Old Lyme Inn that opened a few months back, this weekend would be a great time to go.

On Friday, Scandinavian/British jazz trio Phronesis, a group described by Jazzwise Magazine as "the most exciting and imaginative piano trio since EST," will be playing their last show in the United States before they head back to Europe. The group is led by London-based Danish double-bass player Jasper Høiby. If you're unfamiliar with the group, you can check them out www.phronesismusic.com.

On Saturday, the club was lucky enough to snag Dario Boente for a last minute booking. Boente's high energy Argentinian jazz is the perfect warm up to the club's planned Fall Latin Series.
