Frightfully Fun Halloween Happenings

We want to see photos of your Halloween fun--submit them to Patch!

Even if kicking back with a big bowl of candy corn and handing out Twix bars to the trick-or-treaters sounds like an ideal Halloween, we have some other ideas for you to consider. Before the hordes of ghosts, vampires and mini Charlie Sheen look-a-likes show up on your doorstep, we want you and your family to have some Halloween fun of your own! While carving pumpkins and munching on caramel apples at home are seasonal must-haves, we want you to hit the town for a little ghoulish excitement, too. Check out our list of local Halloween happenings:

  • Stop by any CVS on Sunday, Oct. 23 during regular store hours! Kids in costume will receive a free Halloween gift pack with any purchase.

  • You won’t want to miss Faye Ringel and April Grant at the Waterford Public Library! Show’s on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

  • Lots of Halloween fun—all to benefit a new animal control center! Party is Saturday, Oct. 29 from 12 to 3 p.m.

  • Halloween crafts and more at the Waterford Public Library! Bring the costumed little ones from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.

  • Bring the kids to the Crystal Mall’s Old Navy Court from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31 for some giveaways, a parade and more Halloween-themed fun!

  • All are invited to trick-or-treat at the Crystal Mall! Event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.

  • Don’t miss the spooky Seaport fun! Event will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22 and the following weekend from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 and from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

  • The family will love all of the fun activities Mystic Aquarium has planned for the Fall-O-Ween Festival—underwater pumpkin carvers, haunted ice carvings and more! The festival will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27 and Friday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30.

  • Be sure to stop by Foxwoods on Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29 to catch Guinness World Record holder Scott Cully do what he does best—carve awesomely large pumpkins.

  • Be sure to bring your flashlights! The Spooky Nature Trail will be open Friday, Oct 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

  • New London transforms into Halloween Town on Friday, Oct. 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 29 from 3 to 10 p.m. Most events are free!

  • Food by Tony D’s, music from the What Up Funk band, cash bar, costume prizes and more! Party will be held at The Crocker House Ballroom on Friday, Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 each.

  • Don’t miss the costume contest, live music, fall-themed crafts and more! Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

  • Dress in costume and bring a non-perishable canned food item to donate! Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the college green and in the Clarke Center.

  • Hop around your favorite casino bars! The fun begins at Todd English’s Tuscany on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m.

  • The party goes down at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 in the Grand Pequot Ballroom. Tickets are $35 per person. Be sure to dress your best—there’s $5,000 worth of prizes to take home in the costume contest!

  • Show will be held at the Harkness Chapel on Monday, Oct. 31 at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $10 each and student and senior tickets are $5.
