Time for Waterford Dogs to Get Their License!

Connecticut residents license their dogs in June.

Since our dogs are always ready to hop in the car and go for a ride, why not get them a license? Actually, you have to. It's a state statute that Connecticut dogs must be licensed between June 1st and June 30th.

Connecticut dog laws mandate that dogs older than six months this June must be licensed or their licenses must be renewed next in June at the Town Clerk's office. Moreover, if you get a dog (older than six months) at any other time of the year, you have 30 days to license your new furry friend.

There's what the Town of Waterford website says:

Dog LicenseNeutered/spayed, $8.00
Male/female, $19.00
Kennel, $51.00
Late fee, $1.00/month
Tag replacement, $0.50
Transfer from another town, $1.00

When you go in for your dog’s tags, you must present an up-to-date certificate of vaccination against rabies that is signed by a veterinarian and proof that your dog is spayed or neutered, if applicable.

The Town Clerk's Office is located in Town Hall at 15 Rope Ferry Road. You can call 860.444.5831 or email lerk@waterfordct.org for more information.
