One Year Later, The Search For Kyle Seidel's Killer Continues

The Seidel family are grieving privately on the anniversary of Kyle's death.

December 21 is a sad day in Waterford. It marks the one year anniversary of the death of Kyle Seidel.

The 34-year-old Waterford resident, beloved husband of Kate and father of their three small children, was discovered at around 8 p.m. on December 21, 2012, in the parking lot of Family Bowl in Waterford, dead of a gunshot wound. It was an inexplicable crime that shook the entire community.

To date, the murder remains a mystery. Kyle Seidel had no reason to be at Family Bowl that night. He was on his way home to pick up Chinese takeout from the Lucky Inn Chinese Restaurant on Boston Post Road. In an appeal for information following the shooting last year, Kate said nothing out of the ordinary happened that night and Kyle had no enemies.

On the eve of the anniversary of his death, Kyle's mother, Darlene, and his widow Kate, jointly posted on Facebook to thank friends and family for all their support and to let people know that the family plan to spend the day together quietly and privately as they work through the pain of Kyle's loss at such a difficult time.

"We hope no one takes offense if we don't come to the door or answer our phones. We love you all. Kyle my beautiful and loving son please know I will continue to work on finding who did this to you and our family," Darlene wrote.
"I can only hope that person will be caught soon and this family will be able to know that person who took you away no longer has the freedom to come and go as they please."

Waterford Police are still actively investigating the shooting and doing a variety of things to keep it in the public eye, including printing posters that have been distributed to all police departments and posted in store windows asking for people to come forward if they have any information.
