Flash Flood Watch Issued For New London County

Thunderstorms and rain, possibly heavy at times, are heading our way late tonight and will probably stick around through the weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Southern New London County now through Friday afternoon.

Thunderstorms are predicted to roll in tonight, although possibly not until after midnight, are expected to bring rain to our area until about noon on Friday. As much as to 2 inches of rain an hour could fall overnight, which could swell streams and swamp roads in low lying areas.

Friday morning's forecast calls for mostly showers until noon but even though we might see some sun after that, there's a chance for scattered thunderstorms again tomorrow afternoon.

We can expect more of the same through the weekend, with a 40 percent chance of rain showers on Saturday, and a 60 percent chance of rain on Sunday, along with scattered thunderstorms.
