Waterford Public School’s Sherry Stidfole Retires

Sherry Stidfole has been teaching music to students in Waterford for over 40 years in Great Neck, Oswegatchie, Southwest, and Quaker Hill Elementary Schools. Many of those students later joined music groups in middle and high school. I was lucky to be her student in fourth and fifth grade when she taught in Cohanzie while Quaker Hill was under construction. Even now, in tenth grade, I still remember her classes, and I am very grateful that she began my interest in music.

After many years of bringing music to children’s lives, Mrs. Stidfole has decided to retire. Any of Mrs. Stidfole’s former students and any faculty who would like to honor her are welcome to sing with the mixed age choir at the Waterford High School Music Department Concert on May 21 at 7:30 PM. She will be conducting one of her favorite songs, “I’m Goin’ Home on a Cloud.”

If you are interested in joining the choir, please e-mail Mrs. Stidfole at sstidfole@waterfordschools.org or call her at 860-442-4020.

Her faculty/alumni rehearsals are taking place at Great Neck School, from 7:00 – 8:00 PM, on Wednesday, May 15, and Monday, May 20.

Even if you would not like to sing, everyone is welcome to come to the concert, where the Waterford High School band, orchestra, and choir will perform as well.
