Four Career Fairs Coming Up

Events include Danbury, Manchester and Middlesex Career Fairs, and a Heroes4Hire Fair at East Hartford's Rentschler Field

The Connecticut Department of Labor’s popular Connecticut Career Fair series returns for its spring run and a 16th consecutive year of matching employers with potential employees with shows scheduled at the Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury; Manchester Community College, Rentschler Field in East Hartford, and the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell.

The four career fairs on the spring calendar include:

● The Danbury Career Fair, which will take place March 20 at the Ethan Allen Inn, located at 21 Lake Avenue Extension in Danbury. Co-sponsored by Cumulus Media, the City of Danbury and the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, it will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the hotel’s ballroom.

●The Manchester Career Fair, co-sponsored with Manchester Community College, will take place on Saturday, April 14 at the school, which is located at 60 Bidwell Street. To be held in the Great Path Academy Gymnasium, the Manchester Career Fair is also co-sponsored by The Journal Inquirer, WDRC AM/FM and the MCC Alumni Association.

● The Heroes4Hire Fair, co-sponsored by the Connecticut Veterans’ Administration, now in its eighth year - will take place April 27 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford and run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The special event is held for Connecticut residents who have served in the Armed Services, the Connecticut National Guard and/or Reserves who are looking for employment.

●The Middlesex Career Fair will take place June 19 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell.  Co-sponsors include the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce and the Workforce Alliance.

Statistics show that this agency’s career fairs reach more jobseekers than any other employment event in the state, Marshall adds. He attributes that to the fact that the Connecticut Department of Labor often partners with community colleges, chambers of commerce and workforce development associations. That partnership, he points out, helps to ensure the success of the job fairs by focusing on the local employment needs of the business community.
