1. Today should again be sunny, with a high of 75, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, scattered thunderstorms and showers are expected, with a low of 61, according to the service.

2. There are some differing opinions on the board of finance about the price of an animal shelter. Last week, the animal shelter committee the board of selectmen for $120,000 for design of the shelter -- for a $1.2 million shelter.

“I was planning that the entire cost of the shelter would be $120,000,” Board of Finance Chairman Ron Fedor said Wednesday night.

3. Just an interesting story: During the budget hearings, the board of finance cut $50 from the youth services' line item. Youth Services Director Dani Gorman said she uses that money to send thank-you cards to people, but the board of finance cut it.

A few weeks later, board of education member and the woman who volunteers everywhere, Jody Nazarchyk later gave Gorman $50 in stamps and a new selection of thank-you cards.

4. First Town Hall was put on , and now this. The Town Clerk’s office has outlawed all perfumes and colognes from its office. Town Clerk Robert Nye posted this sign:

“Due to the increasing number of people with respiratory difficulties, please refrain from wearing perfume or cologne when coming to this office. On behalf of the staff and our clients, we thank you for the consideration.”

5. On this date in 1903, the Ford Motor Company is incorporated. And on this date in 1963, 26-year-old Russian Valentina Tereshkova is the first woman who goes into space.
