Police Blotter: Who'll Buy The Next Round?

Two men are charged with larceny and identity theft after they allegedly spent lots of money at local liquor stores on someone else's dime.

Two men from New York City were arrested after they allegedly used a stolen credit card to buy thousands of dollars worth of top shelf-booze at liquor stores in Waterford and East Lyme.  

Henry Shields, 27, of 155-30 Jewel Avenue in New York City and James Louisy, 30, of 552 Linden Boulevard in New York City, were arrested on May 14. Both were charged with larceny in the 5th degree, larceny in the fourth degree, attempt to commit a crime, conspiracy to commit a crime, illegal use of a credit card, and identity theft in the third degree.

Police told the New London Day the men's shopping spree took them to Silva's Package Store in Waterford and Main Brace Package Store, Mermaid Liquors, and Village Wine & Liquors in East Lyme. Police said they were alerted to the situation after one of the liquor stores received a call from a woman who reported her credit card was being used without her permission. 

Waterford and East Lyme Police are working together on the investigation.
