at least they didn't have far to go to jail, knuckleheads, police station right across the street,Read More what they failed to realize was waterford may be small compared to new york, BUT, we have a very good police force, as you found out, i hope they gave you the perp walk, come on, we are walking you to jail. all came to an end when the woman called and just think you didnt even have a "shot" at trying out all your top shelf booze, welcome to waterford, congrats you won a free stay at one of our 5 star hotels, hee-hee, bad boy's bad boy's, what ya gonna do when they come for you.....
The extra patrols are part of a nationwide crackdown on drunk driving and seatbelt violations

awesome, maybe you can spare one or two officers to patrol around sunset ribs, i do love motorcyclesRead More but when the weekend is here and i see the bikes heading over to the rib's and a few hours later here they come again only faster and louder, knowing they have been drinking for a few hours it makes me think about the passenger on the back, drinking and driving is crazy, when you are on a motorcycle and drinking for a few hours and then i along with the people on my deck we watch as a few decide to race as soon as they hit niantic river road, and of course the stop sign on rope ferry is non existent to them, hopefully you can have an officer keep an eye out, if you want to drink and drive your bike and take a chance of hurting or killing yourself, dont do it with someone on the back, that is just stupid, leave your beer muscels at the bar and get home safe

I don't understand why Waterford just can't have a regular fire dept. Change the volunteer system toRead More a professional paid system like other communities have. You have a large enough tax base so hire the volunteers as professional firefighters at union pay and forget the volunteer system. Waterford is very large in area and you have to pay to get the best system to protect your community. The town has outgrown the volumteer system. You need quite a few continuously manned stations to take care of waterford residents and businesses in a timely manner. Don't let a tragedy be the impetus for change. Plan for the change from volunteer to a professional fire dept. and be prepared to pay for it in slightly higher taxes. Protection and preservation of the lives of Waterford residents should be of utmost importance to all involved

Sure there are plenty of regulatory concerns and we could all blame the sue-happy culture we liveRead More in, but that fact is the Chief is correct, and changes need to be made immediately in order to ensure safe and reliable responses. I applaud Chief Condon for not waiting until a terrible tragedy before asking for help. The town should investigate the idea of SAFER grants to add staffing. Yes, there are long term costs associated with the grants after the initial time period runs out. But by then, just how low or inefficient will staffing be? (Please note that I use the word "staffing" to reference both career and volunteer manpower. In this particular example it does apply.)

so, since 9/11 we needed more regulations? and the fires burn differently now do they? whattaRead More typical knee flex reaction by our omnipotent 'protective' liason to the higher powers, aka lawyers with nothing but too much loose time on their hands, and in everyones pocket. i mean, these 'threats' existed long before they started waffling their mouths about, investing hours into the finer details of 'Is it volatile or is just plain old dangerous?" No, on and on, parsing every incident into nice legal time chunks for all their buddies and systemic cohorts to take a nibble of. Now the excited kids are put off by the drudgery of 'more school' before they even get to handle a hose, step on someones property or even approach without the proper 'authority' to render aid. sickening indeed!

As the normal speed on I-95 is 11 mph on most weekends, if you add this to his speed it averages outRead More to be what most major US highways allow. I had three different friends drive to CT this week from there winter homes out of state and all three (each on a different day) say that the minute they hit the CT border, they came to complete stops on I-95 at the NY/CT border. and it took 3-4 hours to get to Waterford. How he found room and traffic conditions on I-95 to go that speed is amazing. Don't arrest him, question him as a consultant on how he did it and give it to CT traffic and highway engineers.

nascar, I see your point of view as well ... it really has been the police and DHS acquiring moreRead More and more that has lead to an arms race with US citizens ~ it was predicted long ago. Now most PDs have an army arsenal and many people do as well. In reality, its not hard to make a firearm in your basement ... heck, people are printing them today using 3D printers. Look at what happened in Boston (tanks in the street), I understand why people want more guns..

point taken david, i was looking at it from one point of view, i do appreciate yours, thank you

ok, so how about that OTHER list? you know, the one that lists all the stuff the police DON'T HAVERead More and need more money from the taxpayers to get? what's on that list? gear for all the possible scenarios they might encounter, all the wackos (lets SIMPLY call them unknowns for now) on the verge to 'flip' and go on a murderous rampage, preparation for all the 'domestic kettles' steaming and ready to explode into beatings and death? Godbout is on the right path, citizens are being targeted as 'the problem', their rights (and choices) are being confined, limited and denied because of some very few knee jerked criminals have made use of a weapon of minor destruction. What's next, when only the cops have guns, will the citizens have to fend off criminals with their powerful cell phones? Will they take that away as well, deeming them possible devices to initiate explosive devices? America is on a very sorry path to a shaky ground. The 'safety net' we have will never protect us from people intent on murder or killing. The 'tools' of the terrorist/muslims are apparently working very well.

this moron most likely thought as he drove through Waterford, AH, here is a small town not up to NewRead More York scams, well Whitehead, like the old saying, "Never judge a book by it's cover" even small town Andy Griffin busted those that came into their small town, no, i am not comparing Mayberry to Waterford, "Surprise, Surprise", Busted, we have an awesome police force and surrounding towns also, your passing counterfeit $100's in Waterford was your downfall....

maybe this will lead to another scrap metal buyer who could care less what damage is done by theseRead More crooks. offer him a month off his jail sentence to provide the location of his cohort dealers?
