THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE at WHS
Waterford High School proudly presents the fifth and final WATERFORDrama production of the season, the hilarious musical comedy THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE
This TONY Award-winning musical will take place at the Waterford High School Auditorium on May 8 - 10 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12.00 for adults and $7.00 for students if purchased in advance or $15 for adults and $10 for students if purchased at the door.
WATERFORDrama, the drama club at Waterford High School, began their tenth season with the with the hysterical comedy IT’S ONLY A PLAY and followed that up with THE SPOTLIGHT CABARET before mounting the emotional courtroom dramas TWELVE ANGRY MEN and TWELVE ANGRY WOMEN.

Taking place in New York City in 1922, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It’s a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.
Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE is a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment. And with the role of Millie Dillmount, musical theatre has found a new heroine for the ages.

THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE opened on Broadway in 2002 and garnered 6 TONY Awards that year, including BEST MUSICAL, while giving Sutton Foster her Broadway debut. The play was adapted from the 1967 movie of the same name starring Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore.
With such hit songs as “Gimme, Gimme,” and “Forget About the Boy,” the audience will surely leave humming a tune, and having experienced a highly theatrical and professional show. Featuring a cast of 40 and an orchestra of 17, this production will make you feel as if you were transported back to New York City in 1922.
