In cooperation with the Historic Properties Commission, the Waterford Public Library will present an illustrated lecture on the Connecticut Barn Survey by Todd Levine of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation. Mr. Levine will include a number of Waterford barns.
Waterford's historic beginnings were founded on agriculture when we were the 'outback' or the 'West Farms' of New London. As barns disappear from the Connecticut landscape so does an important part of our heritage. By documenting our barns we are helping to preserve the legacy.
Photographs of Waterford barns by William Auwood of the Historic Properties Commission will also be on display. Bill has been documenting the town's barns for the past decade during which many of these iconic structures have disappeared forever.
