Town of Waterford Appoints New Director of Human Resources

Joyce Sauchuk of Mystic, Connecticut has been appointed Director of Human Resources for the Town of Waterford and Board of Education.

 A Groton native, Ms. Sauchuk brings more than 15 years of human resources/labor relations experience to her new position. She holds an M.B.A. with a concentration in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a B.S. in Accounting from University of Connecticut. She has also received the designation of Certified Employee Benefit Specialist-health benefits and a Certification from Cornell University in Labor Relations-Collective Bargaining.

 Employed by the Town of Groton since 1991, Ms. Sauchuk began in the Tax Collector’s Office and was recruited to the Human Resources Department in 1995. She has significant experience in all areas of Human Resources including: recruitment, collective bargaining, personnel policies, unemployment hearings, grievance/arbitration hearings, health benefits, workers’ compensation, general liability and all aspects of labor relations.

 In announcing the appointment, First Selectman Dan Steward said “Ms. Sauchuk’s years of professional experience make her an excellent match for the position of Director of Human Resources.”

 Ms. Sauchuk began her new position with the Town on November 15, 2012.
