Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation Walk Still Needs Volunteers

Annual walk to benefit breast cancer research is Oct. 1

The 6th annual Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation (TBBCF) Walk Across Southeastern CT on Oct. 1 offers a choice to walk a quarter marathon (6.55 miles), a super half marathon (15 miles) or the full marathon (26.2 miles).

The starting point for all three marathons is Saybrook Point Pavillion, Old Saybrook.

Opening ceremonies begin at 6:30 a.m. with feet on the pavement at 7:00 a.m. Quarter marathoners walk in Old Saybrook. Super half marathoners walk to Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme. Full marathon walkers complete their walk at in Waterford. Closing ceremonies will be at Camp Harkness at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Volunteers are still needed to support the walk in the areas of massage, opening/closing ceremonies, “spirit team” and traffic on October 1.

Visit the website to register for the walk or volunteer for the day of the walk, to sponsor/donate to a walker, or for additional information about the Foundation: www.tbbcf.org, 860-245-0402 or tbbcf@sbcglobal.net.

TBBCF is a local nonprofit committed to fighting breast cancer – 100 percent of gross fundraising dollars goes directly to breast cancer research. Over the last five years through donations and fund-raising efforts the Foundation has funded 18 grants totaling $1.8M to promising cancer researchers from such organizations as Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Center, Yale Medical School, Harvard Medical School, and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
