Last August, Garrett Denton, then 14, won the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, making him the youngest champion yet, NASCAR reported.
Now the Hope Valley, R.I., teen, who races regularly at the , wants to give back to his community and raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the article says.
According to the article, Denton is asking fans to purchase a $5 star decals from the charity and he will cover the roof of his Mini-Stock with them.
“I wanted to be part of the effort to support our Make-A-Wish Foundation and we worked with them to put together this program,” Denton said in the article, adding that he hopes to raise $500 for the organization.
“The challenge to fans is to be part of the team by sponsoring a star that we’ll carry on our car.”
