Moose Sighting, Getting the Needle in Town Hall, and Show Me The Money

Five things to help you plan your day in Waterford, Thursday, October 10, 2013.

1. What's The Weather? According to Weather.com, today will be cloudy with a high temperature of 64 degrees and there's a 50 percent chance of rain, most likely in the form of showers this afternoon. This evening, the chance of showers increases to 70 percent, but again it's likely to be light rain. The overnight low is predicted to drop to 55 degrees.

2.
In case you missed it, a new $100 bill went into circulation on Tuesday and, almost instantly, Waterford Police received calls from local businesses reporting that someone had tried to pass a counterfeit bill. I haven't seen enough Benjamins in my life that I could tell the difference, but here's what the new notes look like.

Here's something that would be hard to miss in Waterford—although if you're driving, I certainly hope you do miss it—a moose was reportedly seen near I-95 in Waterford earlier this week. Try to steer clear—it's rutting season.

3. Town Meetings: The Niantic River Watershed Committee meets today at 4 p.m. The Conservation Commission meets in Waterford Town Hall at 7 p.m.

4. Getting The Needle At Town Hall: Two health-related events are happening at Waterford Town Hall today and tomorrow—and both involve needles! Today, Town Hall is the place to go to get a flu shot from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tomorrow, the American Red Cross will be at Town Hall for a blood drive from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Give if you can.

5. In the Purple: You might notice a lot of Waterford students wearing purple on Friday. That's because October 11 is National Coming Out Day and posters around Waterford High School are encouraging students to show their support by wearing the color purple.
