Lost and Found, Hit and Run, and Kids' Stuff

Five things to know for Waterford on Thursday, September 26, 2013.

1. What's the Weather? Today gets off to a cloudy start but Weather.com is promising plentiful sunshine with a high of 70 degrees and an overnight low of 52 degrees. Skies should clear, although we may see a few clouds roll back in this evening when there's a 10 percent chance of rain.

2. Meetings Today: The Senior Tile Committee meets at the Community Center Meeting Room at 4:30 p.m.; The Conservation Commission meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall Auditorium and the Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. in the Board of Education Conference Room.

3. Waterford Police could use your help. The Cumberland Farms in Quaker Hill was burglarized on September 22. Police have security photos showing a vehicle and a white man in the area around the time the store employee believes the theft occurred. If you have information, please call police at (860) 442-9451.

Police are also seeking any witnesses to a hit and run that happened yesterday morning on Route 85 by the ramps to I-95 northbound.

4. Sign up now for early childhood screening. Trained staff from Waterford School District are offering Early Childhood Screenings at all three elementary schools on October 23. These hour-long sessions are designed to assess the development of language, gross and fine motor and social skills and give parents an opportunity to get answers to any questions about their child’s performance and development.

5. Lost And Found: The Boston Terrier found roaming around Roxbury Road in East Lyme is back home today but the beagle found wandering in the area of Butlertown Road in Waterford is still at Waterford Animal Control Shelter hoping his owners will come find him.
