Classic Cars, Traffic Jams, And Having a Ball in Waterford

Five things to help you plan your day on Thursday, August 15, in Waterford

1. We can look forward to another lovely day, with sunny skies and no chance of rain, according to weather.com. Today's high temperature should peak at about 77 degrees with an overnight low of 58 degrees. 

2. Expect traffic delays again today along Route 85 in Waterford, with more roadwork bringing additional delays next week. 

3. Camp DASH Powder Puff Flag Football Game will be held this evening at 6 p.m. on Waterford Beach as part of Waterford Week's continuing celebration. 

4. There's a lot going on at Waterford library again this evening. Randi Oster, a speaker on health care reform, will discuss the top 10 changes in health care reform. Presentation starts at 6:30 p.m. followed by a question and answer session. 

At 7 p.m., Susan Topping of Three Rivers College will lead a discussion of the 2013 One Book, One Region selection, Little Princes, about the author who goes to Kathmandu to volunteer at an orphanage for children rescued from a notorious child trafficker.

5. Waterford Week fun continues tomorrow and through the weekend. On Friday, there will be a Classic Car Display at Town Hall at 5 p.m.; Kids Concert in the Park at Waterford Gazebo from 6 to 7 p.m.; a Community Softball Game at Veterans Field at 7:15 p.m.

On Saturday, there's a Family Fun Day at the Farm at Waterford Country School from 10 am to 3 pm at 78 Hunts Brook Road, in Quaker Hill and the week ends with a ball at Great Neck Country Club on Saturday at 6 p.m. with Dick Campo Band. Tickets ($40 per person/$70 per couple) may be purchased at the Waterford Community Center, The RE/MAX Home Team office at 262 Boston Post Road or by contacting Timothy Condon at (860) 867-6203.
