February Break Week Activities for Kids

A list of special events happening in the area during February Break Week!

Here are some of my picks for things to do in the area during break week with your kids. Waterford's February Break is from 2/16 – 2/23. 

The Children’s Museum of Southeastern CT is hosting a February Break Mini-Camp on the 18th & 19th called “Mystery Detectives” where children will have a chance to investigate using tools like fingerprinting and meet a special guest.

The Mystic Aquarium is featuring “Weird Science” with activities daily from the 16th – 24th, 10:00-3:00 which are included in the price of admission. They are also extending their hours to 9:00-5:00 for the week.

Mystic Seaport’s “Winter’s Aweigh” - All children 17 and under receive free admission when accompanied by an adult. There will be special events featuring Newfoundland dogs on February 16th and other activities (some cost an additional fee) throughout the week.

Monty and his friends at The Dinosaur Place will be hosting a President’s Day celebrationfrom the 16th – 19th, which includes scavenger hunts, balloon twisting and daily raffles.

Fridays in February the Rink at Parade Plaza is offering free admission and skate rental to anyone who brings in a non-perishable food item for donation.

The Bounce Fun Center in Clinton is hosting a Prince/Princess Night on February 15th and a Rock & Bounce Night on February 22nd along with open bounce times throughout the week.

On Sunday, February 17th, Chester, CT is having their annual Winter Carnivale! which features ice carving, face painting, costumes, and a tractor parade.

The CT Science Center is offering a vacation week camp from 2/18 – 2/22, where you can register your child for one day, or all 5.

Don’t forget, you can also explore great local destinations like the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, the Florence Griswold Museum, Mashantucket Pequot Museum,  Submarine Force Museum (ALWAYS FREE!), New England Science & SailingCustom House Maritime Museum, or take a ride on the Essex Steam Train.

Looking to get away from the area?

CoCo Key Water Resort in Waterbury is offering some affordable overnight stay packages which include a room and water park passes. You could also visit the nearby Timex Museum. Towards the north, the Providence Children’s Museum has a new exhibit open and a few special activities planned for break week and admission to Roger Williams Park Zoo is half off throughout the month of February. In Newport, RI there is a Winter Festivalfeaturing a children’s fair presented by Radio Disney (on Sunday, 2/17) as well as “10 days of non-stop food, music, and fun!”
