Loss of Electric Power - Grinder Pumps

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE WATERFORD UTILITY COMMISSION

TO: OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS WITH [TOWN MAINTAINED] GRINDER PUMPS

In anticipation of possible loss of electric power due to Hurricane Sandy, the Waterford Utility Commission requests from our customers to limit the usage of water during this period, as much as possible. Depending on the amount of rainfall, our pump stations may be overburden with surface rainwater inflow. Our priority is to attend the needs of our community pump stations.

Our maintenance staff will schedule for the energizing (pump out) of your [town-maintained only] grinder pump on a 24-hour rotation.  The tank of your grinder pump can store up to 60 gallons of wastewater.  Please be prudent on your usage, since your grinder pump will only be energized (pumped out) by our staff every 24-hours, if needed.  If your grinder pump is connected to your own [private] emergency generator, please call our office at (860) 444-5886 and let us know.  This will ease the burden on our field staff.
