The rain held off, and Waterford Week rolled on Saturday with three of its most-anticipated events: Pup-stravaganza, the Waterford Week Parade and the Waterford Week Family Evening at Waterford Beach.

Pup-stravaganza featured a demo by the Waterford Police K-9 unit, and raised more than $900 . Plus, by all accounts, it was a great day for pets and their owners.

The Waterford Week parade ran for the first time on a Saturday, with this season's Waterford High School men's basketball team - the first team in - serving as the parade's grand marshal. There were many other marchers as well, from politicians to girl scouts to everybody's favorite, the Shriners.

Waterford Week Chairman Tim Condon said although the turnout was relatively small, he was happy the parade went on. Last year, the parade was cancelled , so he said he was happy not to miss out on it two years in a row.

"I'm just happy that we got it in," Condon said.

The day ended with the Family Evening at Waterford Beach. The fireworks did go off this year, as the rain held off - despite forecasts predicting otherwise.
