The National Weather Service is predicting severe thunderstorms for Waterford tonight, with winds as high as 58 mph and hail as large as one inch.
The storm is coming from Pennsylvania and is projected to hit Connecticut around 7 to 8 p.m., according to the service. The service said flash flooding and even tornadoes are possible.
Gov. Dannel Malloy said he will partially active Connecticut’s Emergency Operations Center, to better manage the storm.
“This will allow us to better coordinate with municipalities and state agencies, and respond quickly should we have power outages or other damage from these potential storms,” Malloy said in a press release. “I encourage Connecticut residents to closely monitor weather conditions throughout the day and evening, and take proper precautions to stay safe.”
