Waterford's Megan Spellman Named Area's Best Softball Player

The Day has picked the recent Waterford High graduate as its player of the year.

This month, The Day named Waterford High School's Megan Spellman the best high school softball player in the area.

The newspaper reports that Spellman, a pitcher, finished her senior season with a 15-4 record and a 1.24 ERA in 130 innings. Most importantly, she pitched the Lancers to their fourth state softball title with a 6-3 victory over Granby.

Spellman, who graduated in June, will attend the University of New Hampshire this fall and major in sport studies, according to the newspaper. Meanwhile, Waterford High Jordan Hamler was named the area's best high school baseball player by The Day as well.
