Waterford Looks For First State Championship This Afternoon

Boys Basketball Team Plays Watertown For The Class M Title

Waterford High School boys’ basketball team will play Watertown this afternoon in the Mohegan Sun Arena for the Connecticut Class M Championship.

Waterford (24-2) is looking for its first state championship. In 2007, the team reached its only other state championship game, and lost to Weston.

Waterford is the second-seeded team in the tournament. They have defeated 31st-seeded Ansonia, 15th-seeded Bloomfield, and in the Class M tournament to get to the finals.

Watertown is the fourth-seeded team in the tournament. Watertown defeated ninth-seeded Ledyard, 69-47, in the semifinals Wednesday to qualify for the championship game.
