Waterford High School Girls' Soccer Finally Lose; Men Stay Hot

A look at the week in Waterford sports.

I guess all good things must end, and that rang true for the Waterford High School girls’ soccer team.

On Thursday, the team lost its first game of the season to Bacon Academy, 3-2. But showing the resilience of a champion, the team bounced back on Saturday to defeat Fitch at Fitch, 3-0, to bring the team’s record to 8-1-2.

The boys team continued its strong season this week as well, defeating Lyman Memorial 2-1 last Wednesday and East Lyme 3-0 on Monday. The team is now 9-2 heading into tonight’s game against NFA at home.

Things did not go so well for the Waterford High School football team. After two consecutive victories, the team lost to New London Friday, 38-14, to drop the team's record to 2-3. The team will play again this Friday against Montville at home.

In the world of field hockey, the team tied East Lyme on Saturday, 0-0, to bring its record to 5-3-1. On a related note, the team plays Fitch on Monday, Oct. 22 in Waterford in the annual Play 4 the Cure game. Money raised from both donations and concessions at the game will be used to raise breast cancer awareness. For more information, click here.
