Waterford Boys’ Continue Win-One, Lose-One Season

The Waterford High School boys' basketball team has alternated wins and losses through the first six games of the season.

It has been the very definition of an up-and-down year for the Waterford High School boys’ basketball team this seasn.

The team won its first game of the season against archrival East Lyme, 64-60, and then lost to Windham. The team bounced back to defeat Killingly, 48-28, in its home opener, but then lost to Woodstock. Again, the team rebounded with a narrow, 52-50 victory over Old Lyme, only to lose to Ledyard, 64-46.

The team won the state championship last year for the first time in school history. However, the squad lost several key seniors this season, including center Nolan Long and guard Geary McLeod.

The team plays again at Old Saybrook on Monday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.

The Waterford High School girls’ team got off to a rough start to its season, losing its first four games. However, the team defeated Windham 49-44 on December 14th, the last game recorded on the CIAC website.
