VIDEO: Waterford Remembers Its Fallen Heroes

High School Honors Local Soldiers Who Died In Combat With Flag-Raising Ceremony

On an overcast day, all Waterford High School students gathered around the school's front entrance to honor the local soldiers who died in battle.

Former congressman Rob Simmons, Principal Don Macrino and State Rep. Betsy Ritter, D-Waterford, all gave speeches. The families of and Staff Sgt. Edwin Rivera, two soldiers from Waterford who died in Afghanistan, were in attendance.

The ceremony was to honor Marine Clp. Kemaphoom "Ahn'' Chanawongse, Cullers and Rivera, three soldiers who died in action since 2003. Simmons all discussed the efforts by Waterford High School to , who died in Vietnam in 1972.
