Update: Waterford Boys Win Home Opener

Update: The CIAC reports that the Waterford High School boys basketball team won its won opener Wednesday night against Killingly, 48-28.

The winter sports season has begun at Waterford High School, and unfortunately some teams are off to slow starts.

After defeating East Lyme 64-60 to begin its season, the Waterford High School boys’ basketball team lost to Windham, 68-41. However, the team will play its first home game of the season Wednesday against Killingly at 7. This is also the first home game the team will play since it won the Class M championship last year, the first state championship in boys’ basketball in Waterford history.

Things have not started to well for the Waterford High School girls’ basketball team. The team lost its first four games of the season to East Lyme, Montville, E.O. Smith and NFA, respectively, before defeating Windham at home on Friday, 49-44.

In the world of wrestling, the Waterford High School team lost its first match of the season to Montville last week. The team has its second dual meet of the season Wednesday at Bacon Academy at 6.
