Superintendent Jerome Belair, Assistant Superintendent Craig Powers And First Selectman Dan Steward Read To Kindergartners

For Craig Powers, it was homecoming.

The assistant superintendent read to kindergartners at the same exact school he went to kindergarten in. He even saw his old kindergarten teacher.

Powers, along with Superintendent Jerome Belair and First Selectman Dan Steward, each read to one of the town's three elementary school's Thursday morning. And Thursday afternoon, the threesome went to the Friendship School, to read to those classes.

The event, called "Read for the Record," was a nation-wide effort. Overall, adult leaders across America read to 2 million children.

The event was sponsored by the Pearsons Foundation, which donated the book, "Llama Llama Red Pajama" to each class.
