Despite heavy rains, the first day of Great Neck Elementary School was a success, Principal Pat Fedor said.
New kindergartners, along with everybody else, started the day by being ushered into the gym. There, they were split off into their separate classrooms, Fedor said.
Then, at 9:45, they were brought back to the gym for an all-school sing-along. The group sang the Great Neck Elementary School song, along with other tunes.
