Video: Civil War At Great Neck

Fifth-Graders Learn To March

Fifth-graders from all three elementary schools got a brief taste of the 1860s Thursday afternoon after all participated in a Civil War re-enactment.

Children from Oswegatchie Elementary School and Quaker Hill Elementary School were bused to Great Neck Elementary School. There, the kids were taken in groups by actors, where they learned how to march and some history of the Civil War.

“We do this to show people what it was like back then,” said Hayley Wilson said, one of the actors. “There was a lot of suffering in this war.”
