The New Waterford High: Cutting The Ribbon On A $200M Project

Saturday morning, Waterford held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Waterford High School, which is the final step in a $200 million plan.

It is pretty hard to get a town to go for one new school. But over the last 12 years, after a lot of work by a lot of different people, Waterford has six.

Saturday was the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Waterford High School. An addition has been added to the school as part of a $67 million renovation to the property and students moved in two weeks ago.

But really, the project was much bigger than that. In the last decade, Waterford either renovated or built six schools, costing taxpayers more than $200 million.

"I'd like to thank you for the remarkable investment and commitment to education this town has made," Waterford High School Principal Don Macrino said.

In 2005, The Friendship School was built in Waterford. Since, Clark Lane Middle School was renovated, Quaker Hill Elementary School was renovated, Oswegatchie Elementary School was rebuilt, Great Neck Elementary School was rebuilt and now Waterford High School has been renovated.

At the ceremony, several town and state officials gave speeches thanking the people of Waterford and the staff and volunteers that made the construction happen. Then there were tours of the new high school, led by high school students.
