Nancy Macione to Retire as Oswegatchie School Principal

Macione, who has been the principal of Oswegatchie Elementary School for the past 12 years, will retire at the end of the school year.

Wednesday, in a letter to parents, Oswegatchie Elementary School Principal Nancy Macione announced she will be retiring at the end of the school year.

“This is a bittersweet and emotional decision for me, after enjoying a wonderful career of thirty-five years in public education,” Macione wrote in the letter. “Although I am looking forward to some new endeavors in the future, I will miss the students, staff and families in the Oswegatchie School community.”

Macione has served as the principal at Oswegatchie for 12 years. She said the superintendent will begin the search for a new principal soon and said the input of parents and guardians in the search will be "vital."

“Please know that I will do everything I can to insure a smooth and seamless transition at the end of the school year as the new principal is selected,” Macione wrote.

Waterford High School Principal Don Macrino will also retire at the end of the school year. In the letter, Macione encouraged parents to contact her if they have questions.
