First Day Of School Could Be Moved Back A Day

If Irene Is Bad, School To Be Pushed Back One Day, Belair Said

The first day at all Waterford Public Schools will be pushed back one day, from Tuesday, Aug. 30 to Wednesday, Aug. 31, if Hurricane Irene is serious, Superintendent Jerome Belair announced today.

Monday, Belair is planning to meet with the entire staff to get them ready for the school year. If the hurricane is bad enough, that meeting will be pushed back until Tuesday, pushing the opening of school back to Wednesday, Belair said.

Meeting with the staff and that first preparation day is too important to miss, Belair said earlier this week.
