Sandra Fluke? You Want Me to Pay for What?

Sandra Fluke and her outrageous needs.

Of all the insurance plans that I have had over my 35 year career,  birth control has been a covered item. BUT!

I paid for the insurance..the costs were covered by an independent company. My neighbor, relatives or friends did not contribute. So I wonder why my hard earned money  should support the sexual habits of someone I do not know?

Sandra Fluke was cast into the media spotlight earlier this year when she told the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee that many of her Georgetown Law School classmates did not have birth control pills because the university’s insurance plan was not forced to cover it. She wants ME and YOU to pay for her protection. WHAT?

Hey Sandra..You can afford to go to Georgetown..buy a 36 pack of condoms for $30.00. You can order them on line and they come in a nice plain wrapped box.  If you and two friends go in together, $12 each, that’s only $10 for a night or two of partying!

And  you want me to pay for the abortion you will have in the event you “party too hardy” and forget to take or use your freebies. Sorry, I draw the line at murder!!

Now the big one! You want me to pay for sex changes!  How did you put it?  “Transgender persons wishing to undergo the gender reassignment process frequently face heterosexist employer health insurance policies that label [gender-reassignment] surgery as cosmetic, or medically unnecessary and therefore uncovered,”

Do you know how much a sex change costs? $15,000 and $20,000; the cost for some procedures can be as high as $50,000!

Or maybe you know and had it done already? …..Or at least started, cause I think you still have “One Big Set of Kahunas”  to even suggest this crap.

I’ll cut them off for a six pack of Coors Light! I’ll even sterilize my box cutter first!

Yesterday,  a Massachusetts Federal Judge ruled that the taxpayers have to pay for the sex change of a prisoner convicted of killing his wife.  WHY? Will we have to pay for his contraceptives when it’s done? (Yes, I Know)

On second thought, Sandra, call or email me.  I will personally buy all the contraceptives you and your wacko friends want, just so you will NEVER Pro-Create!!

I'll presume you're unfamiliar with satire? No?
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 04:24 pm
I would interpret a call for investigation as a threat. I'm sure I could find 12 who should agree. That aside.
The new health law is not like SSDI. Not at all. Your continued instance on equating the two is vexing. It seems this point is beyond your understanding. Heath care is a service. A person has to give you their time and expertise. You aren't entitled to it. It has to be agreed upon. In coming to an agreement some things will be done and some things not. Everyone, including Rick, should care what is mandated because it is a taking. His benefit status is irrelevant as is everyone's. If you think the current law is going to cost us, the tax payers, less, then I'd like to interest you in the bridge connecting Rt 11 to the new high speed rail to LI. No one personally realises the cost of health care. It's hidden behind payroll deductions, insurance payments, and copays. There's no incentive to make cost/benefit decisions, personally. And, when the ins co (and now the govt) decides for you, won't you complain? There is no competition to drive costs down. Lastly, health is taken for granted. Spoiled brats - whinging on for free condoms. We are so extremely fortunate to have what we have. Rick was denied for a pre-existing condition - what did he do? He sucked it up, found a way to support his family. And you chastise him for not wanting to pay for someone else's condoms! And you wonder why decent hard working folk rebuke such notions?

@Tin Foil Hat: " I'll presume you're unfamiliar with satire? No?"
Right back at ya!! Yes?

If your prose were less ambiguous, I needn't have asked... ;)
Rick Lowe September 8, 2012 at 04:39 pm
I thought you were done Kelly? Welcome back
First of all, Blog rules will not allow me to advertise within a blog. I could use the business though. If you want to investigate me have at it. Nothing to hide. Some of you are very good at avoiding facts and create a scenario that does not exist. I attack Sandra Fluke, who let's face it, is a leftist pawn of Obama's and some of you get your panties in a twist and distort my situation I am also amazed at how many people ask questions like, "Why doesn't he wait 17 years to file for medicaid?" Or playing my accountant and think they have my finances all figured out! You have it ALL figured out don't you? Some of you, Kelly, have even suggested that I don't try to get off SSDI and just keep collecting it because of how tough it is to start a new business. Are you kidding me? isn't that hypocritical? Instead, I approach SSDI about any programs and then I take advantage of one. Then you claim you pay the medical for my family or that I can get insurance. Sorry but I can't. So I see a doctor that works with me. I can apply for food stamps, But I don't...I can apply for other government assistance, But I don't.. I could go to the town and get free food, or other needs, but I don't. I only collect what I paid into for 35 years, so I am getting my savings back, nothing out of your pocket. You see, with Obama, there won't be medicaid or social security anyways if he gets another 4 years.
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 04:54 pm
Rick,
I wish you and your family the best of health, wealth, and happiness. You will always run into people don't have your heart in mind - the black hearts I call them; it's a bit antiquated but they are still around. Remember though, there are still lots of people that still pray for those in need, and your family will be in ours. Fond regards, Tin
cirrus September 8, 2012 at 05:04 pm
If prayer worked Mr. Lowe would not be in his position and pray for the good of all.
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 05:09 pm
Really? Wow.
Rick Lowe September 8, 2012 at 05:11 pm
Thanks for proving my point Kelly!
cirrus September 8, 2012 at 05:13 pm
Tinfoil,
The new studies that just came out showed that people who knew that they were being prayed for after surgery showed a bit less health improvement than those who were not prayed for. How do you explain the fact that prayer seemed to diminish their help? Just a question.
Kelly P September 8, 2012 at 05:14 pm
Thanks for nothing Rick - that's just a lovely snarkiness that becomes your higher level of analysis on the issues in front of you. Just wondering if you are involved in the personal injury claim against the ambulance company. Strike that - an answer might prove to be useful to defense counsel.
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 05:14 pm
Wealth doesn't buy health. Telling
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 05:16 pm
@cirrus: evidence based medicine disproving the efficacy of prayer?
I'm still laughing. Probably will all day long. Who payed for it? Hahahhahahaa
Kelly P September 8, 2012 at 05:16 pm
The prayers you send to him are far less useful to his family in need the govt assistance.
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 05:18 pm
@Kelly: it's rather presumptuous for you say that ou know what his family needs most. Occupational hazard?
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 05:39 pm
Benefit of every doubt? He's told us he does not want "other benefits". If you were giving him the benefit of every doubt you would accept his statement and move on. You are being less than candid.
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 05:45 pm
Is it possible other aspects of this law are sufficiently intolerable to outweigh the possible benefit of eliminating pre-existing conditions as a matter of coverage acceptance? Is it possible the emergent properties of the health care law are orthogonal to it's parts? Surely, you must understand this is possible and (at least) likely in certain aspects?

Tin Foil Hat,
I cannot help but take a little credit for your apodo. I love it but I hope you are not wearing one.

Too funny
cirrus September 8, 2012 at 06:05 pm
Dear tinfoil hat
Dear tinfoil, Check out the John Templeton foundation. They funded the study and he is a lifelong spiritual God-fearing man. He will not discuss the results. You can Google the subject and the name. It's in all the newspapers. Complete disapprove of the quaint superstitious notion. If prayers work why are there amputees? I don't pray but I do wish Mr. Lowe a good life on our dime. and his children, I really do truly enjoy helping educate them in the socialist system.
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 06:30 pm
Ok. I'll try again.
He has the benefits he wants and does not believe taking "other benefits" will benefit him. You disagree. That's not giving the benefit of every doubt. Also, what's a prayer circle. How is it relevant? Why introduce yet another extraneous element? Did anyone suggest a "prayer circle" so one can get new shoes? Is that what you chose to turn this into?
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 06:38 pm
@cirrus: Templeton foundation? Not Hopkins or Duke of Yale?
Explain the study design for me. Did they control for piety, dietary observances, emotive quality of such prayer? Were the prayers temporally connected? Were the supplicant fasting? Abstinence from carnal relations? How about the poor patients? Case matched controls right? Exactly how was this study powered? How many centers were involved? And the list of distinguished PIs? Were medications controlled for as well? Severity? Garbage science for the masses. TY for the laugh. That's twice now!
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 06:55 pm
Again presumption. You don't know what people need. Sometimes it's just money, but that's always the case in my personal experience. Your thinking is so terribly rigid it seems to me. You can't seem to accept that peoples needs may not fit what you see as the solution out of a box, so to speak.
I gave you a FULL answer regarding RL hard earned money. I'll repeat. It is. All of it. Whether he accepts assistance or not does not affect this. SSDI is income replacement. Who knows what the value of the Husky ins is. I'm not sure it can be calculated properly. Regardless, none of this is material to the OP. RL has every right and standing to criticise what the new HC law plans to pay for. He has every right to reject it and try to have it changed, amended, or repealed. His present fiscal situation is utterly irrelevant except those trying to discredit his argument by discrediting him. Bloody obvious
cirrus September 8, 2012 at 07:00 pm
The study cost $2.4 million, and most of the money came from the John Templeton Foundation, which supports research into spirituality. The government has spent more than $2.3 million on prayer research since 2000. I resent paying for a study of superstitions!
anyway mr. Mut, imagine me, a taxpayer paying n to study superstition! Kind of like helping the unfortunate with food stamps. (like the pun on your name?)
Ed Costello September 8, 2012 at 07:44 pm
Kelly..........................your a bore. I thought you were done. Why can't you just take comfort in knowing you are superior in every way to all of us? So you disagree with the guy. We get it. Give it up. Do you think you will change his mind? Don't you ever get tired?
PS. I will gladly pay for your contraception. I don't think the world could take another one like you.
Dr Bob September 8, 2012 at 08:00 pm
I didn't read all the posts and therefore have to admit can't claim full objectivity. I do tend to find a more insulting tone on blogs of this sort coming from one particular "camp." Why the "whining liberal" and "raging feminist" labels? If you are correct with your facts, and have logically reached conclusions enough to form an opinion, let's hear that. It may be interesting. It will never be unanimously agreed with. If everyone who disagrees is an idiot or "just doesn't see" maybe our form of government is wrongheaded after all. When I hear the name calling comes to mind some huffing and puffing is being done, as if someone begins to sense their argument is falling down and is in need of some Viagra-like stimulation. As for the issue (seemingly) at hand, seems one odd thing here in the story of Ms Fluke's saga was that, according to her, there were no women at all sitting on the panel empowered to discuss and decide this issue of insurance payment for birth control. That's a bit more than an oops! I hope anyone weighing in on this, regardless of perspective/opinion can see how objectionable that is. And if you think one has to be a woman to feel that way, it's hard for me, honestly, to feel you have a legitimate place in any adult discussion of anything.
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 08:03 pm
Kelly,
I can't spend my best hours correcting you misquoting me. I didn't say the only difference was conditions to trigger. You made that up. I said they were completely different and separate things and thus cannot be compared as you do. It's logically impermissible, but I'll venture that is an occupational hazard for you. I don't have such luxuries. Consider: is an life ins annuity payout structurally different from SSDI? What if it's means tested? What if the Fed holds a controlling share in this Life Ins co? Start you own blog.
Tin Foil Hat September 8, 2012 at 08:04 pm
@cirrus: I'm very happy for private individuals and entities to spend their hard earned money any which they so choose. I think it's fantastic. I might have preferred a nice cognac, but to each his/her own!
cirrus September 8, 2012 at 08:07 pm
Ed,
Your comments are downright rude and show your small minded (probably unworldly) attitude. A sad meager mind.
Elissa Bass (Editor) September 8, 2012 at 08:16 pm
Hi everyone, There has certainly been some passionate conversation on this blog by Rick, but I am shutting off the comments now, as it has pretty much devolved into a Festival of Name-Calling, and is really no longer a debate, discussion, conversation or discourse. Thanks!
