Waterford’s Take: Romney Won The Presidential Debate

Most Waterford Patch Facebook users who contributed believe Romney won the first presidential debate, although some argued Obama had more substance.

Well, Wednesday night was the first presidential debate between President Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney. And the Internet nearly exploded, with person after person providing everything from insightful commentary to sharing photos of Big Bird with a noose around his neck.

Minutes after the debate ended, Waterford Patch asked people “Who won?” on its Facebook page. The question drew 21 responses from Facebook users, most of them favoring Romney. A few of the more interesting answers:

Rick Beaney: “Romney won by facts and demeanor. The ‘Rock Star’ was flustered.”

Laura Battista: “Romney is a slick, polished, smirky salesman, and a better debater than Obama for sure. Does he really care about the poor and middle class, the elderly who depend on Medicare (and often, Medicaid when they are admitted to the hospital or nursing facility)---he has already answered that question.”

Justin Wiggins: “Romney won. You could see it in Obama’s face when confronted with the last (four) years of failure.”

Joanne Matthew: “Romney lied his way through the entire debate and basically told us nothing, except that he likes Big Bird (who, by the way, is one of the 47% because he depends on federal funds to PBS for his job), but Obama was a wimp!”

Tim Fioravanti: “Who won? Whoever you had decided to vote for before this debate. It was a sleeper all around.”

Kim Trew: "Ron Paul."
