Tuesday night, the Waterford Representative Town Meeting approved a $345,773 appropriation – all of which will be paid for by East Lyme – to replace the sewer line that runs from Logger Hill Road to B Lane.
The work is an extension of the work being done on Logger Hill Road, Utility Commission Chief Engineer Neftali Soto said. The work should be completed by the end of October, he said.
Unlike the Logger Hill project, replacing the line to B Lane will not have a big impact on traffic, Soto said. The pipe runs diagonally from the end of Logger Hill Road to the middle of B Lane, and the contractor will dig up either end and pull the new line through, he said.
East Lyme pays Waterford money to maintain the sewers, as Waterford maintains lines that carry the sewage from East Lyme to New London, Soto said. The money collected from East Lyme will be used to fund the sewer line replacement, he said.
