Board of Finance Asked To Approve Big Budget Requests Tonight

Improvements to Jordan Fire House parking lot and the town's sewer system are pending approval tonight.

Last night Waterford's Board of Selectmen okayed a number of big appropriations that are pending approval by the Board of Finance tonight.

The first is a request from Fire Services Director Bruce Miller for $97,890 for improvements to Jordan Fire House parking lot. That includes $80,000 from the Capital Non-recurring Fund Budget for parking lot improvements and $17,890 from the undesignated fund balance in accordance with the town's capital improvement plan.

The second is a request from Neftail Soto, chief engineer, for $90,000 to repair the Richards Grove Road sewer line, again as part of the town's capital improvement plan. Soto said there have been a number of problems with this particular sewer line, including sewer backups in the area. It seems the sewer was not correctly installed. The scheduled work should fix the problem, Soto said.
